Rovees unveiling a huge success!

"Between today's three events, we had well over 100 people who have now heard about Rovees, which is fantastic. I've been talking to a few other people who have done basically every breedable that has come out, and they've all told me that they're impressed and can't wait to get their hands on Rovees."

We've also had two bloggers already post to get the word out about Rovees. The reaction so far is VERY positive and I'm looking forward to many more happy people once we start beta and move forward to a public release.

I was looking through Fashion Planet today and came across a new contest and thought oh cool, I'm just getting back into designing let me check this out. So I go look. I see a very well laid out web page(though someone has neglected the spell check feature), I see they have a club, a mall with a few designer friends of mine and think ok whats the contest about.

Experience in designing SL Content recommended.

What to do to win 100.000 L$?

* 1. We expect you to create the SL clothing suiting the picture shown below.
Top: Front as show in the picture, back is your choice
Skirt: Prim based flexible
Purse: Prim based high detailled
* 2. Colours: First complete set suiting the picture, Second set in a different colour of your choice.
* 3. We expect you to create a second SL clothing on your draft.
* 4. Send the Creations with full perm to "Maike Hoorenbeek"
* 5. Due date is the 31st march 2008.
* 6. A jury of well-known SL-Designers and the management of Saphir will debatte and vote for the best design and award the first price. We will publish the Result in all well known Second Life Media and in the Web.

As you see I have made bold #4, Send my designs FULL PERM??? Are you insane? With all the content theft out there you'd be crazy to send ANYTHING out full perms these days. 100kL is not worth it. And not only is it 1, but they want 2 designs, one in the original color and one in a color of your choice.

Designers, maybe this is someone new in SL or maybe not, but I just wanted to bring this to your attention. Beware of anyone that wants full rights to your designs, what you could make on your own for the life span of the item in your shop will generate 100K L or more over time. Think of how many people may enter this and this person could very well make your creation part of a business in a box down the road.

I finally did it...

For the last year I have been scurrying around SL doing this, that and the other thing, working for Millions of Us, Raising money for Autism, re-discovering myself and watching my friends and family grow and become closer than ever before. I married off my daughter and gained an extra room in my house to finally set up shop once again to return to one of my favorite parts of my second life...designing. The sewing machine was dusted off and I sat down to work.

I'd like to introduce to you, Valerie. The first and hopefully not last design to grace the floor of Daphne's Delights. This Valentine ensemble consists of a red velvet dress, adorned with lace. It includes 2 different flexie skirts, 2 sculptie bows, gloves and even matching shoes. You can find it at my main store, located on the Isle of Mirage and on SLX and OnRez.

As you all know, I am Daphne Molinari. I've been a resident here for over 4 years and have watched many of you grow and prosper here in SL. I have started a fund raising organization called Autism Speaks in Second Life. With the huge success of Relay for Life, which I have been a supporter of for the past 2 years, I felt it was time to bring a new worthy cause here.

With the help of many friends here in SL it's time to launch and start raising awareness about Autism and the many levels on the Autism Spectrum to try and make a difference. There are many groups in SL that bring awareness about Autism, but this is the first that will work hand in hand with Autism Speaks to raise money for research and funding for families that have children, teenagers and adults in need of therapy.

What I am looking for is designers and content creators willing to donate items, for events that will be taking place here in world. This weekend kicks off an event hosted by the SL Starfleet.

Many of you have recieved a folder that I passed out, with a Kiosk and some literature about Autism Speaks. I am proud to say that with just the placement of that kiosk in world we've already raised about 60k L to donate.

If you would like to donate items please send them to Daphne Stephanopolis, (my alter ego) or Daphne Molinari. Also if you have any questions or would like to sponsor an event please do not hesitate to contact me in world.

In Memory of Ginny Talamasca.

My deepest sympathies go out to Katterina, his family and friends, and those who had the pleasure of experiencing his work.

I never really had the chance to get to know Ginny as I would have liked to. We often get so busy with our lives here as well as the real world, and sometimes take for granted that when we log back in, things may not always be as they should be.

I regret not taking that moment to reach out and say how much I had admired his work, thinking that hey...I'll send a note tomorrow. I know he will be missed very much by those that were close to him, and my thoughts and prayers are with you all in this time of sorrow.

I'm not sure if you all know of that Extreme Makeover Home Edition show.

But there's a family in CT with two girls who have deteriorating muscle illnesses. They live in an old colonial, but in the early 1900s and my friend John, the sports editor of the paper, is trying to get them on the show. They need 30,000 signatures and we have nearly 2400. Its easy, just sign it then forward it along to some other people.

OK OK OK so I'm not the greatest blogger in history but I promise to get better at it... I swear!

Things have been a bit hectic to say the least...I've become a builder of sorts, have traded in the textures of fashion to plunge right into building a SIM...twice. Yeah... just smack me for starting something and us not really feeling it, to tear it down and start again. But hey, they say practice makes perfect. This time around though Fly and I are really diggin the new look and hopefully will have it up and running BEFORE the year 2510 ... alright that is a bit extreme, how bout before St. Patty's Day 2007? *cracks up*

Seems as if my blog template worked out perfect, since the SIM theme is like a boardwalk, fishermans wharf kinda feel and my favorite lighthouse standing tall to bring all you SL'ers home to us... *smiles*

More to come in the near future, with my new Wacom pen staring at me daily... I will be back in the fashion world soon ... I promise!

As I try to do a million things at once I've added some links to the sidebar. With the wedding a little over a month away and Fly and I preparing to purchase the SIM, things have been hectic. We've been getting together so many things and me with my SL ADHD (yes it exists!) and RL getting ready for the kids to go back to school my to do lists have aquired their own to do lists and are preparing for a sequel.

But don't you fret...I will be posting more often and getting new things into Daphne's Delights, as well as Fly releasing some great things for DaFly Designs which will be introduced mid October!

Welcome to my blog, my name is Daphne Molinari, and I am a designer in a platform called Second Life. I primarily design clothing, but every now and then I will find something new to create and will post about it here too. I have been in Second Life just over 2 years and it has become a daily part of my life to meet with friends, other designers and spend time with a very special person in my life, Fly Michelson. Fly and I have been together now just about 2 years and have decided to move forward and wed in game as well as become designing partners. Within the next few months you will see some changes to our forthcoming SIM. DaFly Inc. our joint venture, will consist of many stores and a wide variety of items.

I do hope you will come by and visit often, for I am sure there will be much here for you to see. I will introduce you to some very talented designers that I know, and feature links to their work as well.
